Over 42,000 cases of petechial fever

There were more 1,745 cases of petechial fever nationwide with one death from October 28 to November 4, said Dr Pham Ngoc Dinh deputy director of Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology on November 9.
There have been 42,580 people with petechial fever, out of whom 40 passed away since the beginning of 2005. However, there is a fall in cases compared to 2004 since people with petechial fever reduce by 37% and the death rate fell 60%. Patients concentrate mostly in the south, in the province of Khanh Hoa in central Vietnam and in Hanoi.
