Over US$780.7m to build Thai Binh 1 thermo power plant
Ministry of Industry and Trade recently approved the project on building Thai Binh 1 coal fed plant (thermo-power plant) with the capacity of 600MW, estimated to cost 12.961 trillion dong equalling to over US$780.74 million.
Out of this amount, the loan from Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (Jbic) accounts for 85%, and the remainder is Electricity of Vietnam (EVN)’s corresponding capital. Being designed on a site of about 194 hectares in My Loc commune, Thai Binh province’s Thai Thuy Dist, the plant includes two 300 MW power generations. The annual coal output fed to the Thai Binh 1 thermo power plant is estimated at over 1.53 million tonnes. Work on the project will start in the last quarter of 2009 and expected to finish by February 2013.
