Oxiana’s second quarter copper, zinc output rises
Oxiana Ltd, the fastest-growing of Australia’s 10-largest mining companies, said copper and zinc output rose in the second quarter as it processed more ore in Laos. Copper production at the Sepon mine rose 1.7% to 16,271 metric tonnes for the three months ended June 30, Melbourne-based Oxiana said today in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange. Copper output at its Golden Grove mine in Western Australia rose to 4,731 tonnes.
Oxiana said it will meet production forecasts at its two operating mines this year. Development at its A$775 million (US$676 million) Prominent Hill copper and gold mine in South Australia is on schedule.
Zinc output at Golden Grove for the quarter was 36,675 tonnes, up from 31,300 tonnes produced in the same period last year. Gold output from Sepon was 25,791 ounces, down from 39,274 ounces.
