Penalties for pirated copyright

In the case the imported goods that are found to be pirated copyright, they shall be stockpiled and the importers face administrative fines, according to Circular 58/TTLT-BVHTT-BTC jointly issued by the ministries of culture and information and finance.

Businesses may request the customs agencies to halt clearance of goods that are suspected of copyright violation.

In the case there is no specific evidence if the import or export consignment have copyright pirated, the businesses can apply for long-term protection at the customs agencies for prompt resolution measures if they discover copyright violation of the goods in the future.
