Petroleum imports up 52%

Vietnam will have to import 1.3 million tonnes of refined petroleum products in December 2004, a rise of 52.9% year-on-year to meet the increasing demand of about 17% for energy.
In the first eleven months of this year, 9.9 million tonnes of petroleum products worth US$3.2 billion was imported, an increase of 8.9% in volume and 45.1% in value against the same period last year.
It’s estimated that Vietnam has exported 18 million tonnes of crude oil in the first eleven months of this year earning nearly US$5.3 billion, an increase of 52.8% in value year-on-year.
