Project for women of three countries
A delegation of from the Women’s Union of Savannakhet province, led by Mrs. Khampheng Vilaithong, the Union’s Deputy President along with thirty members, attended a meeting with other women of three countries, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, in Thailand last week.
During the discussion, the women of other countries spoke about their database of women throughout the countries which charted the rate at which women had achieved equality with men.
In particular, it was acknowledge that the Party and Government of Laos had given an important role to Lao women.
Attendees at the meeting also discussed the issue of human trafficking, which is currently an significant problem throughout the region, and has had a direct negative impact on women and children in all three countries.
The women of the three countries agreed to help each other in the prevention of the practice of human trafficking, and acknowledged that this meeting was an important opportunity to enhance relations between the countries, and increase the potential of future cooperation.
