Restaurant food fails to meet health safety standards
A recent survey in HCM City showed that most restaurant foods failed to meet food safety and hygienic standards set by the National Institute of Public Health and Environment (NIPHE).
A senior leader made the revelation June 24 after a food safety survey was conducted on street vendors and restaurants in seven districts of the city and food samples were collected from dishes prepared for customers.
The survey results showed 100% of tested food like pork cakes, pâté bread sandwiches, cooked meat, and salted sauces failed to meet hygienic and food safety standards of the NIPHE.
More than one-third of tested samples of roasted pork and hamburger, and 70% of preserved salted vegetables also failed to meet NIPHE safety standards, the survey concluded.
