Ministry of Trade has just issued a guidance on asking textile and garment manufacturers to return garment quotas to the US, EU, Canada markets in 2004 because these businesses do not demand to use the quotas.
Accordingly, these businesses must enclose the confirmation papers on the amount of the remaining quotas by local export-import management agencies. After that, companies must submit copy of original quotas allocation documents confirmed by export and import management broad where the company allocate.
MoT said that if quotas return procedure is strictly implemented, it will be much easier for managing agencies to have the exact number of un-used quotas and a base to allocate for other companies in need.
