Rice export reports US$1.27b in Jan-Sep

The country has exported more 400,000 tonnes of rice in September, bringing the total output of export rice to about 3,975 million tonnes during the first nine months of the year with the total value of about US$1.276 billion, a 1.5% decrease in output but 12% increase in value against the same period of 2006, according to the statistic from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Truong Thanh Phong, chair of Vietnam Food Association recently said that the price of Vietnam’s export rice is equal to the price of Thailand’s.
