Trade deputy minister Mai Van Dau requested Vietnam Food Association to tighten its coordination with customs offices at international borders in maintaining the rice export contract registration and export procedure of businesses who registered export contracts with specific delivery schedules. To stabilise market prices, from now on, Vietnam is allowed to export only 1.3 million tonnes, ensuring that rice exports in 2004 does not exceed 3.5 million tonnes, stressed Dau.

The trade ministry advises the association to inform daily its amount of signed contracts on its official websites. No more export contract is registered if total export volume registered if delivery within this year surpasses 3.5 million tonnes.
