Rice exports surge to 5m tonnes

Rice exports have reached 4.99 million tonnes earning US$1.33 billion in the January-November period, up 48% compared to same period last year, according to the General Statistical Office.
Currently, Vietnam still has some rice export contracts to be shipped in the first quarter of next year. For 5% broken rice, the price is around US$273 per tonne in HCM City and rice with 15% and 25% broken rice stands at US$265 per tonne.
Indonesia has announced that it wants to import around 25,000 tonnes of rice in the first quarter of next year, including 75,000 tonnes from Vietnam. The Philippines plans to purchase around 350,000 tonnes of 25% broken rice.
