Rice traders sign 600,000 tonnes of exports

Rice traders have signed contracts to export 600,000 tonnes of rice until the end of the first quarter in 2006 with 342,500 tonnes destined for the Philippines the trade ministry reported.
Besides some small rice delivery contracts to the Middle East and Africa, Indonesia has reached an initial agreement to import 100,000 tonnes of rice from Vietnam in the first quarter of 2006.
The trade ministry targets to export 4-4.2 million tonnes of rice from 38-39 million tonnes of paddy in 2006.
