Rio suspends China iron ore talks over Hu arrest

Rio Tinto Ltd says iron ore price talks with China have been suspended due to the detention of company executive Stern Hu, despite claiming previously the Shanghai-based Australian citizen was not central to the negotiations.

“At this point in time we’re not negotiating,” Rio Tinto iron ore chief executive Sam Walsh told reporters after a business function in Perth on Friday.

“Remember we have our negotiators detained,” he said.
