Sao Khue 2005 Award goes to final selection

The Preliminary Selection Committee of Sao Khue 2005 Award last week short listed candidates from 94 nominees for the final round, which will take place on March 19.
Dr Nguyen Thien Nhan, HCM City’s vice chair, was the only one selected as the outstanding individual who had great contributions to information technology (IT) development. Two organisations selected on the same criteria were Da Nang City People’s Committee and Quang Trung Software City (QTSC).
In the area of IT application, selected candidates were Vietnam Airlines Corp, the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, the Financial Statistics Information Department under the finance ministry, and two IT development communications programmes -The Future Choice of Vietnam Television and the PC world magazine.
Eleven enterprises were chosen as excellent software makers based on different criteria. However, only Fsoft Co and Paragon Solutions Vietnam met two criteria on quality management and good export performance.
34 products of 33 software enterprises were reckoned as Vietnam’s excellent commercial software solutions. Two of them are the Fast Business 2005.net of Fast CRM Co and the eTransaction Platform of 13213 Technology Co
The Preliminary Selection Committee, which comprises of 15 members from IT organisations and associations throughout the country, selected those candidates by appraising 94 cases nominated to the round, said Pham Tan Cong, vice chair of the Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa) and representative of the organisation board.
Special features of the award this year are criteria on the applications’ effectiveness, their commercial adaptability, new technologies applied, and the creativeness, he said, adding that the Sao Khue 2005 Award has attracted almost all enterprises in the IT field. The final result is to be announced on March 27 instead of March 13 as planned before. Thoi Bao Vi Tinh Sai Gon and Saigon Times Daily of the Saigon Times Group are media sponsors of the award.

1. Da Nang Software Technology Centre.
2. HCM City Software Technology Centre.
3. Hanoi Joint Stock Information Co
* Enterprises excellent in export performance:
1. FPT Software Co Ltd (Fsoft)
2. Paragon Solutions Vietnam Co Ltd
