A seminar to discuss the establishment of the country’s first ever credit rating company is expected to be held on June 15 by Vietnam Association of Financial Investors in coordination with Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF) and the finance ministry.
Vafi is working with finance ministry to complete a legal framework for the credit rating company by early 2006. As expected, the company will be put into operation in 2007. Nonetheless, the credit rating company would only prosper in Vietnam when the country has a business environment that is attractive to foreign investors, warned Vafi.
Vafi said the upcoming seminar will comprise international experts from credit rating firms or related firlds, such as senior consultant Yoko Ogimoto from Nomura Research Institute, managing director of Malaysian Berhad Rating Agency Suresh Menon, and managing director of Vietnam Partners LLC Bradley C LaLonde.
