A senior Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) official is being investigated by the police, the latest high-ranking public servant to face allegations of misconduct.

Lim Cheng Hoe, the ministry’s chief of protocol, is being probed for making improper expense claims.

These are for reimbursement of expenses incurred during some of his trips abroad, said a ministry spokesman on Thursday.

She said the ministry takes all allegations of improper conduct seriously, and on Tuesday, suspended Lim from his duties and referred the matter to the Commercial Affairs Department for a full investigation. -By LEONARD LIM
