Singapore firms see opportunity in Burma

Singapore firms are setting their sights on Myanmar following trouble-free elections held recently and the positive results of a business mission to the country in February.

The trip, organised by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and Singapore Business Federation (SBF), attracted 115 participants from 74 Singapore-based companies.

The optimism about the reclusive nation’s appetite for reform has been strengthened by last Sunday’s by-elections which saw Ms Aung San Suu Kyi and her party winning more than 40 seats in Parliament.

These wide-ranging political and economic reforms over recent months have clearly resonated with Singapore firms.
