The much–awaited salary hike for government employees, retired officials, and policy makers will come into effect next month, but beneficiaries are likely to get their revised salaries a month later, according to a senior official.
Deputy interior minister Nguyen Trong Dieu said the preparatory work for revised wages, including the drafting of related decrees, has been finished, and are awaiting the final approval of the prime minister. The revised salaries will cost the state 20 trillion dong (US$1.25 billion).
Under the decision, the average monthly wage of state employees will rise from the present 516,000 dong (US$33.1) to 678,000 dong (US$43.5) from October, an increase of 30%.
