Strike action ends after four days

The deputy chair of the people’s committee of HCM City Nguyen Thanh Tai said he instructed all the departments and agencies as well as the people’s committee of Go Vap district to resolve petitions from striking workers at Hue Phong Shoes Co. in pursuant to common provisions on February 16.
On the same day, about 6,000 workers agreed to return to work after negotiation with the company.
The company committed to go through social and health insurance that they should have done many years ago. As well, the basic salary will be risen by 100,000 dong a month and other welfare will be carried out in order to enable workers to reproduce their labour force. The company also promised to discuss with the trade union and representative of workers before making any change.
On the same day, about 600 workers of Phu Lam Shoes Joint Stock Co were back to work after the company’s agreement to increase their salary from 560,000 to 700,000 dong a month.
The director of Saigon-Sagel Electronic of Go Vap committed to solve petition of 300 workers about annual leave, working protection policy and many subsidy for workers.
