Taiwan appliance maker plans HCM City plant
Taiwan’s Tatung Co plans to invest US$34 million set up a white-appliance plant near HCM City, which will be Tatung’s production base for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) market. The new plant is scheduled to begin mass production of home appliances in early 2006, with product lines to be expanded to include other information technology (IT) and heavy electrical machinery products. Lin said that the annual revenue of the Vietnam plant is expected to soon reach US$100 million and jump to US$1 billion within next five to seven-years.
Tatung has boasted a comprehensive product line for digital TVs, including 17-, 20-, 23-, 27-, 30-and 32-inch LCD TVs as well as 42-, 46-and 50-inch PDP TVs.
