Hundreds of lanterns set for the sky in New Taipei City, Taiwan as part of the Sky Lantern Festival.

The festival is held to mark Mid-Autumn.

Participants hand-write wishes onto the lanterns, most of them are about family and well-being, before launching them into the night sky.

The festival started in 1990 and runs annually. It has been criticised for generating too much plastic waste, but the organisers say trash is cleaned up and recycled.
