Total bird cull unnecessary: official

It is totally wrong to have all the poultry flocks nationwide destructed, said the deputy director of farming department Hoang Kim Giao on November 29.
Giao added the culling of fowls can only be applied in localities and small countries with the bird flu outbreaks. For example, a small country of Hong Kong destroyed all 1.5 million bird stocks. However, the same measure cannot be carried out in our country because Vietnam is geographically larger than Hong Kong. It is essential that the heath officials have to cull all bird stocks in infected areas at the same time manage to protect healthy and uninfected poultry in neighbourhood.
