Tourism expo to be held in Hong Kong

The 19th Hong Kong International Tourism Expo opened on June 9 in the presence of representatives from Hong Kong authorities, the diplomatic corps and tourism companies from 50 countries and territories.
Vietnamese Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau Ho Xuan Son, Director of HCM City’s Tourism Service Nguyen Thi Lap Quoc and chief representative of the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines Le Truong Giang were among those present.
More than 500 companies involved in tourism services are taking part in the event, a 40 percent increase over 2004. Participants from Asia account for 40%, followed by Europe, 26%, America and Oceania, 20%, and the Middle East, 14%.
Four Vietnamese tourism companies from HCM City and Vietnam Airlines are displaying their products and publications introducing famous tourism sites and air routes to visitors.
Quoc told a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondent in Hong Kong that that was the second time HCM City had sent its representatives to the Hong Kong Expo to introduce the land and people of Viet Nam, and the city’s tourism services. The city’s tourism companies will take this occasion to showcase their products, places, new tours, and sign contracts with partners. She added that Vietnam will invite foreign tourism companies to attend an international tourism fair in HCM City in October.
The Hong Kong Expo will run until June 12.
