Traders add 200,000 tonnes to rice export contracts

Rice traders signed contracts to export 200,000 tonnes of rice in April bringing the total tonnage contracted since the start of the year to 1.2 million tonnes said the agriculture ministry April 4.
Most shipments are destined for the Philippines, Middle East, and South America.
Current export rice price of Vietnam is hovering around US$300 a tonne, up by US$45 a tonne against earlier this year. The ministry forecasts world rice price will increase slightly in the near future.
