Two third of listed shares decline, VN Index still gains for eighth straight session
Closing the trading session today, the VN Index of Hochiminh Stock Exchange (STC) gained another 0.1 percent to 436.16 pts. During the trading session, the lowest of VN Index was 430.8 points. The trading value dropped sharply by over 100 billion dong from the previous trading session to reach 708 billion dong.
Amongst three largest market capitalisation shares, BVH and MSN reached the ceiling while VIC lost over 1.7 percent. Key stocks fell right from the beginning of the trading session including SSI, ITA, HAG, HPG, KDC, KBC, ITA, EIB, CTG and VCB.
SSI continued to lead the market in terms of trading volume with over three million shares being transferred. At the closing time, SSI slipped 1 percent to 20,100 dong per share.
VCF of Vinacafe Bien Hoa gained points for the fifth consecutive session and reached the ceiling price at 100,000 dong per share. VCF today announced Masan Consumer, a subsidiary of Masan Group made a public offer to buy 50 percent stake in VCF.
Unlike the southern bourse, the HNX Index lost point right from the start of the trading session, losing another 1.7 percent to 73.77 pts. The market liquidity plunged by over 35 percent from the previous trading session with nearly 535 billion dong.
Some share codes reached high trading volume such as KLS, VND and PVX.
The group of bank shares declined after gaining for two previous sessions. HBB and SHB decreased 5.6 percent and ACB dropped 3.8 percent.
The share group of securities companies were traded at the floor price like APS, AVS, CTS, SHS and VIG.
