A source on February 11 from Vietnam Association for Seafood Exporters and Processors (Vasep) said that the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced imposing the anti-dumping tariff on the processed catfish (tra and basa) from Vietnam.

The US catfish breeders said that the import of Vietnam’s processed catfish into the tough market would cause disadvantages for them because Vietnam’s catfish price is lower than the US.

International Trade Committee (ITC) under the DOC announced that a conference to consider the issue will be held in Washington on May 6, 2009. All requirements needed to be discussed at the forthcoming conference will be sent in advance to ITC on May 1, 2009 at the latest.
