Vietnam 2009 oil product imports from China, Russia rise sharply

Vietnam’s imports of oil products from China and Russia rose sharply in 2009, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said Tuesday in a statement.

Oil product imports from China rose 341 percent to 2.43 million metric tonnes, while imports from Russia rose 266 percent to 612,881 tonnes in 2009, the ministry said.

Singapore, however, was still the largest oil product supplier to Vietnam last year, though imports from this market fell 19.5 percent to 4.93 million tonnes, the ministry said.

Vietnam imported 12.71 million tonnes of oil products in 2009, down 2 percent, the ministry said last month.
