Vietnam attends poverty conference in Germany
An international conference on poverty alleviation strategy attended by delegates from 14 developing countries was held by the German economic cooperation and development ministry on May 13 in Berlin, according to Vietnam News Agency.
Addressing the conference Vietnam labour minister Nguyen Thi Hang highlighted the achievements made by Vietnam in poverty alleviation over the decade 1991–2000. The rate of poor households in Vietnam has decreased from 30% in 1992 to 20% in 1995 and 17% in 2000, Hang said.
