Vietnam builds 80m m2 of housing area in 2011
As reported by the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction (MoC), in 2011, Vietnam’s total newly-built housing floor area reached 80 million square metres and average housing area reached 18.3 m2 per person, of which, it was 21.3 m2 per person in urban area.
Regarding housing programme for low-income earners in urban area, the country has carried out 42 projects with a total investment of 4.5 trillion dong, building 900,000 m2 of housing floor, meeting the housing demand for 73,000 people. Currently, there have been as many as 1,700 apartments in use.
For the housing programme for students, there have been 151 housing blocks being completed, meeting the accommodation demand for 205,000 students.
