Vietnam Expo 2005 opened yesterday at Giang Vo Exhibition Centre in Hanoi, showcasing a large swathe of commodities and machineries at more than 700 display booths of local and foreign companies.
Being one of Vietnam’s key trade promotion activities, the annual exhibition helps boost local enterprises’ export and investment on the way of integrating into the global business circle.
Deputy Minister of Trade Luong Van Tu said in his opening address that the exhibition provided good opportunities for boosting economic cooperation.
“The fair is not only an opportunity for local enterprises to display and introduce their ware but a good environment for them to approach modern technologies, seek partners, sign contracts and establish relationships,” he said.
The 2-hectare fairground houses nearly 500 booths of Vietnamese enterprises and more than 200 booths of foreign companies coming from 20 countries and territories worldwide such as the Czech Republic, Cuba, China, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Myanmar, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Products shown at the event are very diversified, from processed food and beverages, chemicals, farm produce, medicines, garments, leather goods to machinery, health devices, transport means, and electric and electronic appliances.
Especially, an indoor area, organised by the trade ministry, is used for showcasing furniture and fine arts items only.
The exhibition also incorporates seminars on international integration and brand name promotion.
