Till March 10, Vietnamese enterprises exported 1.33 million tonnes of rice all types, including 8,100 tonnes of parboiled rice (accounting for 3.49 percent of the country’s total rice export volume), according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).
Tran Ngoc Trung, general director of Vinh Phat Investment Joint Stock Co, the Vietnam’s key exporter for parboiled rice, said that till March 23, the total export volume of parboiled rice reached over 10,000 tonnes.
As forecasted, in 2011, Vinh Phat Co may export about 60,000 tonnes of parboiled rice.
According to Truong Thanh Phong, VFA’s chair, this year, the country may export about 300,000-400,000 tonnes of parboiled rice.
The export price of 5 percent broken parboiled rice is now at $490 per tonnes, and it is $475 per tonnes for 15 percent broken parboiled rice. Meanwhile, the 5 percent broken white rice is being traded at $440-450 per tonne.
Vietnam’s parboiled rice has been exported to countries in East Europe, Africa and some Asian countries.
