Vietnam imports over 4m tonnes of steel in Jan-Jul

The country’s trade deficit of steel has no sign of improvement though the export turnover of steel in the first seven months of this year increased up to 44.2 percent over the same period last year.

Vietnam imported over 4 million tonnes of steel in Jan-Jul, worth $3.53 billion, equalling to 85.3 percent in volume and increasing nearly 9 percent in value from the same period last year, the local newswire Tuoi Tre said.

Meanwhile, the country exported 940,000 tonnes of steel in Jan-Jul, valued at $881 million, leading a trade deficit of steel sector of approximately $2.65 billion, equalling to the figure of the same period last year.
