Vietnam-Thai rice accord

An agreement on raising the export rate of rice of both exporters was reached by Vietnam and Thailand as quoted by the Thai News Agency (TNA) April 22. As agreed, Thai high quality rice export price will climb to US$195 from US$163 and medium quality rice to US$183 from US$155.

Both exporters recorded a surge in rice exports in the first quarter. Vietnam exported 400,000 tonnes and Thailand 1.9 million tonnes.
