A workshop on cooperative potential in investment, trade, tourism, culture and education between the central province of Quang Tri and Mukdahan province of Thailand was held on July 28 in Quang Tri.

In order to create favourable conditions for businesses of the two provinces to seek cooperation and investment opportunities in these fields, the two provinces will set up subcommittees to survey and research the natural and economic conditions of each province, to provide more information on the potential and advantages of investment cooperation.

The subcommittees are also expected to promote economic development and administrative reform to facilitate investment in both countries.

Speaking at the workshop, Governor of Mukdahan province Chanvit Vasayangkura said the province would cooperate with Quang Tri province in exporting agricultural and forest products by sea.

This year, Mukdahan province will organise New Year’s festival for people of the four countries of Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and China who are living and working in the province, to introduce the culture of each country and attract more tourists.

Quang Tri and Mukdahan are provinces in the region of the East-West Economic Corridor with similar cultural features. The two provinces established twin relations in 2005. Since then, they have cooperated and engaged in exchanges in many fields, bringing benefits and development to both countries.
