Vietnam, US begin new WTO talks in Geneva
Vietnam and the United States enter a new round of negotiations on Vietnam?s bid to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva of Switzerland on March 26 according to a source.
The source said trade minister Truong Dinh Tuyen, together with many Vietnamese top officials, left for Geneva Thursday evening March 23.
The two sides will discuss issues relating to banking, sales and distribution rights, industrial subsidies, taxation and telecommunications.
Twenty trade unions and trade alliances in the US recently sent letters to US Trade Representative Rob Portman, calling on the US government to wrap up the bilateral talks on Vietnam?s WTO accession as soon as possible.
