Vietnamese firms invest $2.4b in Laos

During past time, the total number of projects and investment capital of Vietnam in Laos have increased sharply. So far, Vietnamese enterprises have invested about $2.4 billion in over 200 projects in many fields in Laos.

Within the framework of the 17th unofficial Asean Economic ministers’ Meeting (AEM) and the ministers’ Meeting of four countries including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar (CLVM) held in Vientiane (Laos) from February 25 to 28, on February 26, Vu Huy Hoang, Vietnamese minister of Industry and Trade visited and work with Vietnamese firms in Laos.

At the meeting, very Vietnamese enterprises with large investments in Laos such as Vietnam-Laos Electricity Joint Stock Co, Star Telecom-Viettel, An Phu-Laos Co Ltd, Vinacomin Laos, PetrolVietnam Exploration Production Corp (PVEP), Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group and Lao-Viet Joint Venture Bank, Golf Long Thanh Group, and Vietnam-Laos Insurance Co highly appreciated the investment prospect in Laos.

Over the past time, the total number of Vietnam’s projects in Laos has increased rapidly, reaching over 200 projects valued at about $2.4 billion in fields such as energy, banking, insurance, telecommunications, trade services and urban development. These projects have been contributing positively to Lao infrastructure development and boosting the relations between the two countries.
