Vietnam’s cashew export earns $666m in H1/2012
In June alone, Vietnam exported additional 20,000 tonnes of cashew, lifting the total export volume in Jan-Jun to 97,000 tonnes, earning an export turnover of $666 million (rising 41.2 percent in volume and 26.6 percent in value from the same period last year), according to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Vietnam continued retaining the world’s leading cashew nut exporter with stable large consumption markets such as the US (accounting for 37.7%), China (26.3%) and Netherlands (17.4%).
However, the average export price this year reached only $6,842 per tonne, down 8.1 percent from the same period last year mainly due to gloomy export markets and constantly falling prices, resulting in closures and dissolutions of many enterprises.
