Vietnam’s Equity Movers: PetroVietnam Drilling, VietinBank

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Vietnam trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 11 a.m. local-time close.

The VN Index, the benchmark measure of the HCM City Stock Exchange, gained 0.6 percent to 414.75, the highest close since October 11.

PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Joint-Stock Co. (PVD VN), rose 2.9 percent to 39,000 dong, the highest since September 23. The company’s unconsolidated third-quarter profit grew 36 percent to 274.8 billion dong ($13.1 million), and nine-month net income jumped 69 percent from a year earlier to 738.7 billion dong, according to a company statement on the bourse’s website.

Vietnam Joint-Stock Commercial Bank for Industry & Trade (CTG VN), or VietinBank, climbed 4.6 percent to 25,100 dong, the highest close since September 30. Unconsolidated net income rose to 1.39 trillion dong in the third quarter, from 1.12 trillion dong in the same period last year, it said in a statement filed on the exchange’s website late yesterday.
