Vietnam’s Stocks: Ben Thanh Rubber Advances, CMC Corp. Falls

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Vietnamese trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 2:15 p.m. close in HCM City. The VN Index (VNINDEX), the benchmark measure of the HCM City Stock Exchange, added 0.4 percent to 408.72, the highest close since July 6.

Ben Thanh Rubber Joint-Stock Co. (BRC) rose 1.8 percent to 11,500 dong, the highest close since June 27. December- delivery rubber gained as much as 1.2 percent on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, paring this year’s loss for the most-active contract to 6.4 percent.

CMC Corp. (CMG VN), a software maker and a provider of information technology-related equipment and services, dropped 3.9 percent to 4,900 dong, the biggest decline since May 29. The company will be put on the exchange’s warning list from tomorrow because of a 101 billion dong ($4.8 million) net loss in 2011, according to a statement on the bourse’s website late yesterday.
