Viettel Mobile provides General Packet Radio Service

After a period of testing, the 098 mobile phone network of the Military Telecom Joint Stock Co (Viettel) officially announced to provide General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), a mobile data service available to users of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), to its all pre-paid and post-paid subscribers in Hanoi and HCM City with the cost of 5,000-20,000 dong a month.
GPRS technology enables Viettel Mobile’s clients to apply advanced features such as downloading coloured images, different ring tones, access the internet, sending and receiving email. Also, the subscribers can use Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) at the maximum speed, sending and receiving multimedia messages.
In order to meet increasing demand for using GPRS services and accessing internet via mobile phones, Viettel Mobile offered two GPRS packages including GPRS1 is suitable to the clients who use it to download, access wap or exchange multimedia messages with the cost of 5,000 dong per month. And GPRS2 with monthly subscription cost of 20,000 dong is for the clients who often check mail or access internet via the service.
