In 2012, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (Vinacomin) would be submitting a proposal for raising the coal price to be sold to power plants.

Vinacomin added that at present, the production price has reached about 1 million dong per tonne, however, after several times of increasing price, the coal sales price offered for power industry has only been adjusted to about 600,000 dong per tonne. It was considered as low price, and has caused much trouble for the group in financial balancing works and conducting other projects.

Therefore, Vinacomin has suggested increasing the coal price by at least 30-40 percent within this year. The proposal was supposed to be sent to the government and ministry of industry and trade for approval.
