During the first two months this year, the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Group or Vinacomin mined 6.16 million tonnes of crude coal and produced 5.86 million tonnes of clean coal. Its coal sales reached 5.75 million tonnes including 3.38 tonnes of coal for export.

In related news, the Vinacomin yesterday March 1 signed a cooperation agreement with the US Alcoa group to develop Vietnam’s aluminium industry.

Under this agreement, the two sides will work together to set up a venture company to mine bauxite ore and produce aluminium in Gia Nghia, Dak Nong highland province.
