VNPT awaits prime minister’s decision on restructuring

Reorganisation of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) is yet to be kicked off awaiting the prime minister’s decision on corporation restructuring, said minister of Information and Communication Nguyen Bac Son at the online dialogues with the people via the government Web Portal on 12 June.

Following the decision, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Investment, Labour Invalids and Social Affairs and some others will release adjustments of several legal documents so as to be in line with restructuring requirements, he said.

Also, the Ministry of Information and Communication is well prepared to conduct the restructuring process at corporations under its management including VNPT following the issuance of such decision.

Earlier, this group has proposed merging MobiFone and VinaPhone into VNPT Mobile Telecommunication (VNPT – Mobile) which, together with other affiliates will be capitalised after 2015 rather than equitisation of MobiFone for the time being.
