The opposition has been deemed as not ‘walking the talk’ in their call for a two-term limit to the position of prime minister.

Prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the issue was never raised when a certain opposition leader was in power in the past.

“Only now is he seeking a two-term limit (for the position of prime minister).

“But he himself had been at the helm for over several terms.

“Why did he not impose the term limit last time (when he was in power)?,” asked Najib during his speech at the launch of the machinery of Barisan Nasional Youth and BN Puteri here today. Pic by NSTP/ADI SAFRI

“Why did he not impose the term limit last time (when he was in power)?,” asked Najib during his speech at the launch of the machinery of Barisan Nasional Youth and BN Puteri here today.

Najib was believed to be referring to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chair Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was prime minister for 22 years.

Najib, who is also BN chair, also challenged Penang Chief minister Lim Guan Eng to not run for a third term if he is really serious in abiding by the two-term limit principle.
