Medic Medical Centre yesterday began work on a hospital in the city’s Hi-Tech Medical Zone in outlying Binh Tan District, and this is the first out of eight projects that have been approved into the zone.
The Medic Hospital, as the project is named, will be developed on an area of 4.7 hectares, and will be a general hospital in the first phase and a medical university’s faculty down the road, said Phan Thanh Hai, director of Medic Medical Centre.
This 400-bed hospital will be built “step by step” in five years with a total capital of US$50 million, he said.
Beside the role of general diagnosis and treatment, this complex will have some special faculties treating urinary, tumour, and cardiovascular diseases, Hai said.
The Hi-Tech Medical Zone has been developed since 1999, covering a total 45 hectares near Highway 1.
