Privately-held Vietnam Viet Renewable Energy JSC held the inauguration ceremony of the 50MWp My Hiep Solar Power Plant on January 21, putting the plant into commercial operation.

The project has a total investment of more than VND1.2 trillion ($52.17 million) and it is built on an area of 58.27ha in My Hiep commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province with a total installed capacity reaching 50MWp.

The plant applies Huawei String Inverter technology with seven AC stations, 229 string inverters, and 113,624 mono half-cell 440wp PV modules with a conversion efficiency of 19.91 per cent provided by Japan’s leading industrial conglomerate, Sharp Corporation.

The project was designed and implemented by the SESJ-SSSA-NSN consortium, which has a wealth of experience in implementing similar projects such as Phong Dien, Ham Phu 2, and Phuoc Ninh solar power plants.

Besides, under the strict management and supervision of Bureau Veritas from France, My Hiep Solar Power Plant did not only achieve the commercial operation date on schedule to enjoy the feed-in tariff (FiT) rate of 7.09 US cents per kWh but also satisfied all criteria for safety, technology, and quality during its 20-year lifespan.

After nearly six months of construction and installation, withstanding weather challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic, My Hiep Solar Power Plant was officially energised on December 11, 2020. The plant is expected to provide the national grid with 82 million kWh of electricity a year, contributing to reducing CO2 emissions to the environment by about 54,000 tonnes a year.

Along with other renewable energy projects, My Hiep Solar Power Plant aims to provide a fulcrum for Binh Dinh to reach new levels of development, gradually growing into a major national renewable energy centre.

The project does not only contribute to adding clean and environmentally-friendly energy to the national grid but also contributes to the socio-economic development of Phu My district and Binh Dinh province.

To support socio-economic development in the province, project owner Vietnam Viet Renewable Energy JSC awarded VND1 billion ($43,480) to Van Thien and Van Phuoc Tay villages of My Hiep commune to build roads, contributing to improving local infrastructure and the quality of life of locals.

Established in April 2018, Vietnam Viet Renewable Energy JSC is a member of Wealth Power Group and NSN Construction and Engineering JSC to carry out the 50MWp My Hiep Solar Power Plant project in My Hiep commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province in Vietnam’s southcentral coast.

Wealth Power Group is a multidisciplinary investment unit, a pioneer in the investment of renewable energy, real estate, tourism, and agriculture with prominent projects such as Phong Dien 2 Solar Power Plant and the Chan May LNG project.

In addition, its investment partner NSN Construction and Engineering JSC is a pioneering general contractor in the field of building renewable energy plants, with more than 350MWp of solar power projects implemented nationwide. NSN has 17 years of experience in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, with strong financial, technical, and managerial potential.

Leveraging the strengths of these two major shareholders, Vietnam Viet Renewable Energy JSC has quickly completed My Hiep Solar Power Plant in accordance with international standards on engineering, safety, management, and quality with a committed performance ratio of 84.14 per cent at the commercial operation date.
