Airports of Thailand extends relief package for hard-hit concessionaires and airlines

Airports of Thailand (AOT) is to extend a range of assistance measures for concessionaires and airlines affected by the COVID-19 outbreak at the six airports covered by the authority Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Don Mueang International, Phuket International, Chiang Mai International, Hat Yai International and Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai International.

As reported, AOT had already introduced a 20 percent reduction in fixed monthly concession charges from 1 February 2020 to 31 January 2021. In December 2020, those measures were extended until 31 March 2022, with some variance (dependent on passenger traffic) at different locations.

In a note to investors, AOT announced today that concessionaires and airlines are still being affected by the Covid-19 outbreak in many countries and the pandemic’s “new wave” in Thailand.

At a board meeting held today, the directors resolved to approve an extension of payment term for concession charges, office and state property rents, and service charges as follows:

1. Extend additional credit term of payment for concession charges as follows:

1.1 For monthly instalments during February July 2020, a 6-month credit term of payment, thus totalling a 18-month credit term of payment, shall apply.

1.2 For monthly instalments during August December 2020, a 6-month credit term of payment, thus totalling a 12-month credit term of payment, shall apply.

2. Extend additional credit term of payment term for office and state property rents, terminal and building service charges, landing and parking charges, and aircraft service charges as follows:

2.1 For monthly instalments during April July 2020, a 6-month credit term of payment, thus totalling a 18-month credit term of payment, shall apply.

2.2 For monthly instalments during August December 2020, a 6-month credit term of payment, thus totalling a 12-month credit term of payment, shall apply.
