All indexes down on low liquidity

All main indexes on Vietnam’s stock market closed down on lower liquidity on December 22.

On HSX the VN Index fell 2.79 points (0.42 per cent) and the VN30-Index 0.08 points (0.01 per cent), while on HNX the HNX-Index lost 0.46 points (0.57 per cent) and the HNX30-Index 1.91 points (1.32 per cent).

The VNAll-Index shed 2.35 points (0.25 per cent) and the UPCoM Index 1.82 points (3.34 per cent). The VNMid Index closed 3.46 points (0.43 per cent) higher and the VNSml Index 4.01 points (0.53 per cent).

HSX saw 98 shares increase and 149 decrease while HNX saw 114 increase and 122 decrease.

Liquidity on HNX was VND303 billion ($13.31 million million), 2 per cent lower than yesterday, and on HSX was VND1.76 trillion ($77.33 million), down 6.3 per cent.

The VN Index opened at 666.94 points and reached its peak of the day of 669.8 points early on before heading downwards and closing the morning session at 666.6 points and the day at 664.15 points.

VNM fell 2.4 per cent on trade of VND180 billion ($7.9). Among other stocks in food and beverages, MSN increased 4.6 per cent and SAB 1.1 per cent while KDC, SBT and VHC lost 3 per cent, 2.3 per cent and 1.2 per cent, respectively.

HPG was the highest trading share on HSX, with VND261 billion ($11.46 million) changing hands, and increased 1.4 per cent in price. ROS followed with VND255 billion ($11.2 million) and rose 0.7 per cent.

Most banking shares were down: BID by 2 per cent, STB 0.7 per cent, CTG 0.6 per cent, MBB 0.4 per cent and VCB 0.1 per cent. EIB closed at its opening price.

In energy, CNG and PGD were up 3.1 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively, and GAS 0.8 per cent.

Among other large caps on HSX, BVH and MWG lost 1.7 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively, while VIC increased 1.4 per cent.

Among large caps on HNX, SHB closed down 4 per cent, PVS 3.6 per cent, VCG 2.2 per cent, VCS 1.4 per cent, ACB 0.6 per cent and PVI 0.4 per cent. NTP, DBC, VNR and PTI closed at their opening price while VND and PLG rose 0.8 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively.

Foreign investors net sold on HSX by VND12 billion ($527,280 million) while net buying on HNX by VND280 million ($12,303).
