* Hoa Phat Group (HPG) sold 226,000 tons of construction steel in May, taking the total in the first five months to 1.16 million ton, up 22.4% year-on-year. Some 149,000 tons were sold in the south, a 1.65-fold rise from the same period last year. Steel exports also picked up by 21.4 to around 106,000 tons, mostly to Japan, the United States, Canada, Cambodia, Malaysia and Laos.

* PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVT) has announced preliminary business results in the first five months of 2019, with revenue and pretax profit adding 16% and 44% at VND3.5 trillion and VND360 billion, respectively. The revenue growth was mainly helped by crude oil transportation for Nghi Son oil refinery. PVT will receive one chemical tanker next month and acquire one crude tanker in August.

* Sacombank (STB) is offering promotions worth over VND3 billion until June 16 in response to the Government’s policy to encourage non-cash payment. Individual customers registering for a combo package, consisting of the current account management service, Internet banking, automatic balance notification and card payment, will be exempt from fees for the first six months.

* Thanh Thanh Cong – Bien Hoa Company (SBT) said its consolidated net profit jumped 104% year-on-year to VND288.9 billion in the third quarter of its fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018. Its revenue soared 8.2% to VND2.5 trillion in the quarter. The firm has approved a plan to issue 44.5 million preference shares at between VND30.0000 and VND45,000.

* Viet Gia Phu Real Estate Trading and Investment Company has registered to buy more than one million shares of Sai Gon – Mien Trung Beer Company (SMB) within one month starting June 7, raising its ownership to over two million shares.

* Masan Consumer Corporation (MCH) will spend VND2.7 trillion paying a dividend VND4,500 per share for 2018 on the record date of June 10. The company will make the payment on June 26. It booked consolidated net profit of VND793.5 billion on revenue of VND3.7 trillion in the first quarter of this year, up 1.7% and 5.7% year-on-year, respectively.
