* Tran Ba Duong, chairman of Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) and member of the board of directors at Hoang Anh Gia Lai Agricultural JSC (HNG), spent VND850 billion acquiring an additional 50 million HNG shares on August 7. The deal saw his ownership in HNG rise to 9.02%. Meanwhile, Tran Oanh Manufacturing and Trading Co., Ltd, where Duong serves as chairman, is holding a 9.74% stake in HNG.

* CMC Corporation (CMG) said that its consolidated net profit slumped 73.3% year-on-year to VND8.59 billion in the first quarter of its fiscal year beginning April 1 this year, due to the increase in costs. Its net revenue fell 7.9% year-on-year to VND1.11 trillion in the quarter.

* Phat Dat Corporation Real Estate Development (PDR) has completed the issuance of VND845 billion worth of secured non-convertible bonds in a private placement. So far this year, PDR has issued VND1.45 trillion worth of bonds at the lowest and highest coupon rates of 9.5% and 14.45% annually. It made a consolidated net profit of VND241.34 billion on revenue of VND1.97 trillion in he first half of this year, up 0.25% and 4.4-fold from a year earlier, respectively.

* Bao Minh Insurance Corporation (BMI) posted more than VND2.01 trillion in insurance premiums in the first half of this year, up a modest 2.2% from a year ago, while its net profit fell 29% to VND91.6 billion.

* Sonadezi Chau Due Shareholding Company (SZC) has chosen August 19 as the record date to pay a 2018 dividend in cash at 8%. The payment is slated for September 16.

* Hoang Ha Investment Production and Development Co., Ltd. acquired more than 1.6 million shares of Son Ha International Corporation (SHI) on August 7, raising its stake in SHI to 11.6%, or over 10.1 million shares.

* Doan Tuong Trieu, chairman of 577 Investment Corporation (NBB), offloaded 2.5 million NBB shares, lowering his stake in the firm to 0.54%, equal to 500,000 shares.
